Ella is stable and resting this morning, but still has not shown signs of walking or neurological improvement. Dr Guzman is now recommending that she see a Veterinary Neurologist, who will check her reflexes and assess if she needs an MRI, or if the hope she will walk again is unfounded. We are hoping and praying that she will walk again--she is such a lovely kitty, she deserves a second chance with a loving family. Please say a prayer for Ella.

Ella looked a lot better tonight when we visited her at Banfield Pet Hospital. She is still on IV fluids and pain & anti-inflammatory medication, and has been resting to gain strength. She is still unable to urinate on her own, but we're hoping that will change as when the Vet Techs started to express her bladder, she moved her back paws and drew up both of her legs! It is still unclear if her immobility is due to prolonged pain and imflammation, but we are hoping and praying that she will improve enough to be able to walk and go to the bathroom on her own again soon. Please keep her in your prayers--she needs all the help she can get!

Ella was just released from Banfield Pet Hospital and is tucked away in a quiet corner to rest. She has shown improvement and is able to move her legs a little, but we need to do physiotherapy to keep her muscles from atrophying. She is drinking water on her own (YAY! she wouldn't drink before. ), and is eating small amounts. Dr Guzman sent us home with anti-inflammatory and antibiotic medication for her, and we are taking her to see a neurologist on Monday morning. Her injured paw is looking a lot better than it did before, and she has much better color in her lips, eyes, paw pads, etc. She must feel so much better! Now we have to work on helping her to walk again... say a prayer for us!

We just finished our first kitty physiotherapy session and I think it was successful! Ella really enjoyed the massage, and after I had done one side, she struggled to move herself so I would do the other as well! She was able to press her legs a bit against my hand, moved one leg a little bit voluntarily without any stimulation, and curled her toes/pressed her paw into my hand. She fell asleep while I was massaging her belly, prurring loudly. She is resting comfortably now, and we'll have another session this evening. There is hope!

Best news EVER!!! I just got confirmation from the Feline Veterinary Emergency Assistance Program that they are giving Ella a grant of $200 to help with her treatment! Thank you so much to Tim at FVEAP!!! Her Neurological assessment is tomorrow morning, then if she needs an MRI/surgery, it's going to run in the thousands... If anyone is interested in making a donation, every little bit helps!

Ella saw Dr Wong and Dr Ward at Southeast Veterinary Neurology this morning, and the news wasn't what we had hoped for... If Ella is going to regain deep pain perception, she will do so within 4-6 weeks, so she is on crate rest for two weeks with daily physiotherapy and massage. Dr Wong will see her next Tuesday for a re-examination to see if there has been any improvement. We are hoping and praying that will be the case. Send loving thoughts our way--Ella needs all the help she can get.
A big thank you to Tim and the Feline Veterinary Emergency Assistance Program--Ella's neurological examination today as well as her re-evaluation next week were paid for by a treatment grant from FVEAP. This organization is a Godsend, and we can never thank them enough for their kindness. They are truly Angels here on earth.
