Day 1
Ella on her way to the Banfield Pet Hospital in Miami, FL. She was a good girl, and although she was very frightened, she didn't struggle and seemed to know that we were taking her for help. She is a lovely little kitty who would make someone a wonderful companion.

Ella's first night in the Banfield Pet Hospital--we were told that she rested comfortably. She is currently receiving IV fluids for severe dehydration, as well as an IV anti-inflammatory and IV antibiotic. She is in the 'Isolated Care' area of the hospital and does not currently have any neighbors, so she can sleep and recuperate in a quiet setting.

Day 2
Ella's 'room' at the Banfield Pet Hospital is a kitty-sized cage where she can't really do much other than lie quietly and rest--which is what she really needs right now. Her injured paw is looking much better today and the staff cleaned it again today. It actually looks like a paw now-before it was pretty horrific.

Poor Ella is quite weak and needs a lot of rest right now. She was sleeping when we arrived to visit. The Vet is an orthopedic specialist and he says that we need to wait and see how she gets on--she is still unable to walk--the Radiologist wants her to see a Neurologist as there may be spinal cord damage, but Dr Guzman thinks that she might show signs of improvement, given a bit more time. We are hoping for the best--she has reflexes in her legs and tail, which is a good sign. At the moment she is still unable to urinate on her own, which is a big problem.
Ella woke up at the sound of our voices and was really glad to see us--her eyes started to tear up and Dr Guzman told us that kitties really do cry, and that she was probably happy to see us. I have to admit, we both teared up ourselves to see her perk up, lift herself up as much as she could, and start purring when we stroked her head and neck. Despite all of her injuries and pain, she is still loving and friendly, and willing to have faith in humans.
Day 4
Ella was just released from Banfield Pet Hospital and is tucked away in a quiet corner to rest. She has shown improvement and is able to move her legs a little, but we need to do physiotherapy to keep her muscles from atrophying. She is drinking water on her own (YAY! she wouldn't drink before. ), and is eating small amounts. Dr Guzman sent us home with anti-inflammatory and antibiotic medication for her, and we are taking her to see a neurologist on Monday morning.
